Sometimes you will be asked to forward e-mail messages as attachments. This page attempts to explain how to do that.

The way to achieve this depends on the mail program you're using; please read the instructions appropriate to your mail program.

Outlook Express

Please use any of these methods:

Outlook

Please use either of these methods:

We may have to call you back if there are no headers in the email you send. This is because Microsoft Outlook removes headers in emails.

If this is so we would need you to:

Netscape 6+ / Mozilla / Thunderbird

OR

OR (for more than one message only)

Eudora

So far as we can tell, it isn't possible to forward messages as attachments using Eudora.

However, it is possible to see the full headers of an email, which is the next best thing (because you can then copy and paste those headers into a file, save the file, and send the file to us an attachment). See the links below ("Other mail clients") for how to do this.

Mutt

Set the mime_forward option to something other than "no".

Press f to forward the message. If asked Forward as attachment?, choose yes.

Other mail clients

Most mail clients will provide a way to see (and copy) the full headers of a message. Not quite so many allow you to forward messages as attachments, preserving the headers.

Using your favourite search engine, try searching for something like "full mail headers" plus the name of the mail software you use - for example, "full mail headers pegasus", if you use Pegasus as your mail client.

At the time of writing, the following (external) sites seem to provide useful information on this:
